Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers provide critical support to our ministry. Their generous offerings of time and talent enable our ministry to do far more than we ever could otherwise.  We invite you to use your life experiences, gifts, and talents to make an eternal difference at PHC. Some roles are needed regularly and others only during certain times of the year.  Our volunteers are a flexible bunch.  Regular volunteers in the center understand that we are sometimes busy with things they can do their entire shift and there are other times we do not have as many clients for them to meet with or projects for them to do during the specific hours they are here.  Just as our staff does, our volunteers sometimes wait in anticipation for those the Lord will bring through our doors.  We ask that volunteers with “down time” in the clinic spend that time continuing with additional training opportunities or in prayer which is the most powerful gift they can offer PHC and its clients. To inquire about the volunteer opportunities listed below or for more information about becoming a volunteer, please call 859-624-3942 or email help@madisonphc.org

  • Church Liaison – Church liaisons help our ministry cultivate and maintain a strong, mutually-beneficial relationship with their home congregation.  The goals of these relationships are to provide awareness of services for those who might need them in the congregation, to celebrate all that God is accomplishing at PHC using the investments from the congregation, and to provide PHC with the support it needs to achieve its mission.
  • Work Crews – We need groups of people to help prepare Baby Bottles for distribution to local churches, to do facilities repairs and/or improvements, do regular cleaning, and take on periodic deep cleaning efforts.  The number of people and hours needed will also vary depending on the project.
  • Boutique Assistant – Help organize baby clothing and other boutique items, fill client requests and notify church groups of specific needs.
  • Prayer Partner – Prayer Partners commit to pray for us daily and to lift up special prayer requests provided by e-mail.
  • Administrative Support- Help for efforts including mailings, copying, organizing, preparing materials for events, and making phone calls.
  • Church Ambassadors – Help thank supporters through phone calls, notes and other opportunities to show our appreciation for their investment in PHC.
  • Client Care Receptionist* Receptionist answers the Center’s phone and greets those entering the center when staff are not available to do so. Receptionists work to provide a welcoming, caring and compassionate response to callers, help them to understand the services we provide, and work to schedule an appointment for them.  Receptionists also greet those entering the center and assist them as need.  Receptionists honor our commitment to our clients that in us they will find no judgment, no pressure, just help.  Time commitment varies and is less frequent than other client related volunteer positions.  Volunteer receptionists are most likely to be needed during monthly staff meetings and vacations/leaves of absence.
  • Female Client Advocate** (FCA) FCAs meet with female clients seeking pregnancy and parenting related services.  FCAs provide compassionate care for the clients in addition to information on all options-parenting, abortion and adoption including emotional, physical and spiritual considerations with each option.  FCA’s are also spiritual mentors to the mothers going through our parenting program, meeting weekly with them and going over the curriculum. With client permission, FCAs often also engage in spiritual conversations with clients and must be comfortable doing so. FCAs honor our commitment to our clients that in us they will find no judgment, no pressure, just help.  Time commitment for FCAs is four hours a week, during the day (based on your availability).
  • Male Client Advocate** (MCA) MCAs meet with male clients seeking parenting related services.  They are also spiritual mentors to the fathers going through our parenting program, meeting weekly with them and going over the curriculum. With client permission, MCAs often also engage in spiritual conversations with clients and must be comfortable doing so. MCAs honor our commitment to our clients that in us they will find no judgment, no pressure, just help. MCAs honor our commitment to our clients that in us they will find no judgment, no pressure, just help.  Time commitment for MCA is four hours a week, during the day (based on your availability).
  • Post-abortive Recovery Facilitator*** We are looking for women who are post-abortive to work with a staff member to co-facilitate a session of our Post-abortive Recovery Bible Study.  This program is designed to facilitate a healing journey for women who have had abortions.  Facilitators honor our commitment to our clients that in us they will find no judgment, no pressure, just help and are willing to share their own story as part of the group process.  The time commitment is 4-5 hours a week for eight straight weeks.
  • Prayer Intercessor: Intercedes through prayer on-site during operating hours on behalf of the ministry as a whole, clients, staff and volunteers.
  • Nurse Volunteer: Offering basic nursing to support our staff nurses for four hours or more a month. Requires a current RN license and same training as Female Client Advocates. Volunteer nurses are most likely to be needed during occasional gaps in nurse’s schedules and vacations/leaves of absence.

**The Client Advocate positions require watching Care Net DVDs in the office, shadowing a trained Client Advocate and then meeting with clients on your own. Requires a 6 month commitment.

*** Requires having previously participated in our Bible study or another similar program, training with our staff, and being far enough along in your own personal healing to be able to effectively help others in that journey.
